Shincha, which translates to new tea, refers to the first green tea harvested for the year and is a celebration of the arrival of the spring season throughout Japan. In addition to its cultural significance, Shincha possesses a flavor all its own—bracingly fresh, aromatic, and verdant. In this immersive tasting class, guests will learn about the production and processing methods used for Shincha in different prefectures throughout Japan, while tasting a variety of selections from our 2024 Shincha catalog. These teas are extremely limited, only appearing on our menu for mere weeks, making this a rare and unique opportunity to experience the bounty of spring. In celebration of the season, we will be serving wagashi provided by Phoebe Ogawa, the perfect compliment to the advent of Shincha season.

This class is 90 minutes long and features an info session, tasting, and seasonal wagashi pairing.

The class will be held at 70 Greenpoint Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222

Please note all classes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
